Going it Alone: HOW TO STUDY FOR THE ACT/SAT ALONE

Many parents and students automatically opt to study in a center with an instructor, however, students can succeed alone. Studying for the SAT or ACT alone can be challenging, but it is possible with the right approach and resources. Here are some steps students can follow to prepare effectively:

  1. Familiarize yourself with the test format and content: Understanding the format of the test and the type of questions it asks is essential. Review the SAT and ACT study materials from College Board and ACT.org and take practice tests to get a feel for the test.

  2. Create a study schedule: Dedicate a specific time each day or each week to studying for the SAT. Make a schedule and stick to it, focusing on specific areas that need improvement.

  3. Utilize study resources: Many resources are available for students studying for the ACT and SAT independently. Invest in an ACT or SAT study book or use online resources such as Khan Academy, which offers free SAT prep. Contact us for links to other resources.

  4. Take practice tests: Regularly taking practice tests is crucial for measuring progress and identifying areas that need improvement. Take as many practice tests as possible and review the questions you missed to see where you need to focus your efforts.

  5. Identify and address weaknesses: Regularly review the results of practice tests to identify areas where you are weaker. Focus your study efforts on these areas, and seek additional resources if needed.

  6. Get support from others: Connect with classmates, friends, or family members who are also preparing for the SAT or ACT. Study together, discuss strategies and answer each other's questions.

  7. As for the EST, it is important to remember that the English sections of the EST bear a striking resemblance to the English sections of the current SAT. Consequently, SAT Materials can and should be used to prepare for the Egyptian EST.

By following these steps, students can study for the SAT or ACT effectively on their own and improve their chances of success.
